• Firstly, I start my job by monitoring the number of workers present. After that, I check the crushing unit to whether the crusher is active or at a shutdown. When it is active, I check to see if there is enough feed and whether to be blended or not. After that I check all around the crusher including the grizzly bar, hopper, jaw or gyratory crusher, cone crusher or other secondary crusher, conveyor belts, etc. Secondly, I check the mills unit to see whether samples are taken correctly and also do same to the tanks unit as well. Finally, I make sure that all chemicals are enough in store for operational purposes. Some chemicals include: cyanide, sodium metabisulfite, caustic, etc.

• I had some many responsibilities as a Junior Mining Engineer. I have to first check to know which pit is operating and which is not operating and why. I check to see if the haul roads are well delineated and safety banks are in place. I then do equipment check on all earth moving equipment like excavator, loader, track dozed and haul trucks. Knowing the amount of equipment working at a particular time leads to the statistics of equipment. It helps inform us on the calculation of the amount of ore excavated thereby getting our percentage gain or loss and utilisation . We then make sure to optimize each pit as per our requirement.
