I am involved in the management of acutely ill and traumatized patients. I provide surgical continuity of care for all major trauma patients. I participate in the triage and assessment trauma patients and participate in life saving surgery. I oversee the management of patients in the accident and emergency, trauma and surgical wards. I carry out a wide range of emergency and elective surgical procedures. I also run the general surgery outpatient clinic. My range of surgery include but not limited to herniorraphy, appendicectomy, bowel resection and anastomosis, gastric resection and reconstruction, total and hemicolectomy, Cholecystectomy, laparotomy for trauma, laparotomy for sepsis Administratively, I organize the day to day running of the accident and emergency, general surgery unit and the surgery department.

I studied medicine and surgery at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Nigeria. I studied basic medical sciences including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical statistics and clinical sciences including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine Paediatrics, Surgery and community medicine. Following which I did my compulsory one year internship in the departments of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Surgery.

As a surgical resident I rotated through the departments of accident and emergency, orthopaedics and trauma, urology, paediatric surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, surgical oncology, hepatobiliary surgery, pathology and radiology. I was an integral part of the resuscitation team in the accident and emergency department. I was involved in history taking, physical examination, assessment investigations, interpretation of diagnostic investigations and management of common surgical emergencies and elective surgical conditions under the supervision of senior residents and training consultants I also carried out surgeries under supervision of consultants and in my senior resident years I also carried out surgeries independently. As Chief resident, I was involved in rota preparation, organization of the weekly presentations; including journal club, morbidity and mortality meetings, clinico-pathology and clinico-radiology meetings. I was involved in bedside teachings, teaching sessions in specialist clinics, theatre sessions and presentations. I was also involved in organizing postgraduate clinical meetings and examination drills.
